Claude code uses a "to-do list" that it checks after every task so it never gets off track, it updates and completes tasks off it and i think its really amazing how that functions, itll be a great feature for gemini cli

I have this working in my fork. It works great and the model behaves better. Flash will not reliably use it, but with really careful prompting, I can make Gemini 2.5 Pro use it. It isn't as reliable about it as other models like o3 or Sonnet / Opus but it will do it.

IT is public. So the UI I showed is from llxprt main. You can use it right now with the old (not as nice)

npm install -g @vybestack/llxprt-code

Early on, I tried contributing. They were too slow. Plus, they don't want multi-provider and refuse to get rid of nextSpeakerChecker or fix their React. (all fixed)

Now I maintain a fork. If you look, I keep up with their releases, I have llxprt itself cherry-pick their changes.

I can vouch for #5784 (reply in thread), having tested it "in the wild".

Lots of other CLI AIs have it (I have found some very interesting ones: https://docs.warp.dev/agents/using-agents/agent-permissions#linux being maybe the most advanced as it just includes the whole bespoke terminal) and it helps overcome the "tunnel mode" or goldfish memory of AIs (tactics over strategy).

Myself I do it via:

• Whole PMBOK caboodle: https://github.com/Manamama/Puzzles_for_AIs/tree/main/docs, granted: overkill.
• The opposite approach: GEMINI.md itself or like serves as a tracker. Added pro: upon session crash AI just self loads status quo.
• Any Database like stuff, even Memory MCP shall do (visualize-able as JSON!), allowing atomic aka granular updates, see above why important: 'Performance and Limitations: Full todo list replacement on updates rather than granular changes'
• My fav: sequential thinking, see my fork: Enhance sequentialthinking Tool to Ensure Full Feature Utilization by MCP-Enabled AIs: analysis by Grok of Gemini CLI's using it, from raw logs modelcontextprotocol/servers#2332 but then the con (negative aspect) is that you do not see that well where yous are at in TUI.

1. Warp is interesting. If it were open source I'd spend a lot more time looking at it. I'll definitely look more into their docs. I'm somewhat fanatical about wanting a bit more control and visibility. I'm not saying everything has to be open source but having more control over the models is feeling important to me. Otherwise they go nuts and I don't know why.

2. I feel like you're touching on a few things. I tend to like to separate things.
   A. Plans - bigger projects along epochs driven by requirements
   B. Todo - smaller plans driven by tasks
   C. Facts/thoughts/evidence - things the llm "knows" about the parts necessary to complete tasks. Sometimes referred to as grounding truths?
   D. Concurrency - honestly a lot of agentic people are doing memory sharing swarms and stuff. I haven't had terrible amounts of luck. I'm maybe more interested in adversarial review and https://www.reddit.com/r/godot/s/WAqAZ2lTul to make the easiest path for the llm to do what I want instead of...fraud.
   E. Structure - making the LLM follow a process. This is essential. https://github.com/acoliver/vibetools/blob/main/executor/plans/PLAN.md

Anyhow that's what I think. I usually find out I'm wrong next week.
