Gemini-cli: One day rubbish, next day a rock star coder

I'm not sure how much this is a function of Gemini-cli, and how much it is a function of Gemini itself, but I find some days Gemini-cli can't seem to edit a python file. Yet the following day or the previous page it might have edited most files without trouble. This seems to be independent of the Gemini model I have used, that is changing to Gemini Pro rarely helps. I'm not sure that it has even made that much difference which version of Gemini-cli I have been using.

Most of the problems seem to be around editing files, where it can't fine the text or simply can't edit the file. Other times it will become stuck in a loop.
