About using build.sh to compile and instrument

When we set the compiler CC and CXX, will running build.sh to compile the target test program unintentionally instrument third-party libraries? For example, when compiling the curl project, running build.sh compiles the dependent third-party static libraries, which seems to result in additional instrumentation.
