Way to change 3D model and/or materials dynamically

I'm thinking of using the model viewer as a product mockup generator, where for example there would be a static model, with no prints or colors on the surface, and once the client customers the product with their own design the model updates, in this scenario the I'm aiming of updating the model surface only, like a t-shit product mockup generator where the client adds text on the t-shirt and the model updates,
