Issue creating a new connector

Hey guys, I'm running into trouble at the first step, running the npx @google/dscc-gen connector command.

Doing so, I get the following warning:

dscc-gen connector
? Project name google-data-studio-trello-connector
? How will users authenticate to your service? NONE           - No authentication required.

No valid /home/james/Development/google-data-studio-trello-connector/google-data-studio-trello-connector/.clasp.json project file. You may need to `create` or `clone` a project first.

I'm running the command from the /home/james/Development/google-data-studio-trello-connector/ directory.

I've tried generating the .clasp.json file using clasp and putting it in the subdirectory, but when I run dscc-gen again it says the directory already exists and I can't run the script unless I change the project name.

I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to do here, as it's my first time using this tool. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
