I am curious how many are using/considering it, and where you think/hope it will be in another year?

After having worked for a while on a proof of concept based on it, my feeling is that it provides a good foundation. It seems to need a bit more work to be production ready though. What do the rest of you think, and is anyone actively working on improving it further?

I would love to be able to use this for a project, but need to know if it has or is able to attract a sufficient number of contributors to be a viable option in the near future. Hope to hear from you soon.

In my mind the best feature of the server is that Namespace is an interface. While not perfect, I think it provides a much cleaner way to map your application data model into an OPC UA server compared to other server libraries I've seen. You can effectively use a small mapper to convert between Nodes and your data instead of having to create, manage, register, etc... a bunch of generic "Node" classes from whatever library you're using and then figure out the best way to do the mapping between those and your data.

The MapNamespace is a basic example of this and is a more or less stripped down version of what I needed when I started working on the server in the first place. I always wanted to make a StructNamespace that would do a similar thing by mapping struct fields to ua nodes behind the scenes so you could simply register some struct that you wanted to produce and be done.

I haven't had time or a need to work on it in a while since it's doing basically what I need for my application already. I don't need crypto today and I don't need methods and so on, so they're not something I would probably ever get around to which is probably for the best - it's ideal to eat your own dog food after all.

There has been an uptick in action on the server in the last couple months with bugs being identified and PRs coming in, so it looks to me like people are starting to use it.

Thank you for your input @danomagnum ! I am also a fan of the design decision that the Namespace is an interface.

It is particularly good to know where your ambitions are and that you feel more or less done in this space. I am hoping others now can step in to help take it further.

I've used it for a demo for a larger porject at work and it was nice to work with. As far as I'm concerned, production is not an option currently becasue it's missing methods and username pasword authentication. Are these being actively worked on? I wouldn't mind jumping in and making a contribution if not.

I have done some work in a draft PR to try to add support for methods. It works for simple cases, but needs more architectural consideration and quite a bit of polish before it can turn into a real PR.
