Under what circumstances does the pairing mode automatically turn off?

I am currently using OpenGoPro to connect to my GoPro camera. However, I have noticed that the pairing mode sometimes turns off automatically. Could you please clarify under what circumstances the pairing mode might deactivate on its own?
