I don't think it's an issue with the driver but I wanted to document it somewhere in case someone else has the same problem. I'm running Debian 13 (Trixie) with a Fanatec CSL Elite and this was the was the rough order of events:
ACC worked with the steering but no FFB
Installed hid-fanatecff and FFB worked
Rebooted & ACC no longer worked with the steering wheel
Lots of failed debugging steps like modprobe -r hid_fanatec && modprobe hid_fanatec, running fftest, tweaking udev rules and experimenting with different steering wheel modes
Removed controls.json from the Assetto Corsa Competizione/Config path and now ACC works again with FFB
Interestingly the controls config was somehow set to an XBOX wheel before I removed the file.
