Queues are not being created

I am on a Grails 2.3.5 application and using RabbitMQ 1.0.0 plugin. I've defined my connection settings in config.groovy, however, after the application starts up I can't see the queues in the rabbitmq management page.

I think the port just needs to be 5672, 15672 is for the web interface isnt it?

I changed it to 5672 but still the queues don't get created.

That was the only obvious thing I saw. I actually use this https://grails.org/plugin/rabbitmq-native because I had better luck with it and needed some of the functionality it provides this plugin doesnt.
