Avoiding edge crossings

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone has experimented with a way to avoid the edges of the graph crossing each other? I tried to add the amount of crossings as an additional force to the node but the results were not as expected.

This problem has been puzzling me for a long time. I haven’t come up with a suitable solution yet. If someone could help us out, that would be great.
