Cannot connect to patched VLC

I use a patched version of VLC (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vlc-luajit) because it is required by an OBS fork that adds features I want. Running this (and other related rpc software) fails because it can't successfully connect to VLC, and nothing changed when I tried modifying VLC settings (though I'm not too sure what to look for).

I've never used this patched version - were you trying to use attached mode or detached?

Not sure, whatever the default is. I've tried multiple ways of starting the software and none have been able to connect to vlc.

On another note, I'm kinda just stuck on an "old" version of this patch, since the way vlc is packaged on arch changed recently, and attempting to update just results in dependency hell for me. I'm thinking this is more of an issue that the maintainer of the vlc patch needs to deal with, but it would be nice if you could find some sort of workaround.

Yeah, didn't work at all.

Also, found some log files, the end of it always has the status of Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'address') (I set the address in the config to "localhost")

Cant remember which was which, I think i ran the program with the debug option once or twice at some point, not sure where that info went though, since all the file sizes here are the same. Weirdly enough, I can't seem to get a log file produced when I try to run it now?
