Request same asset multiple times in parallel

Is it possible to request the same asset multiple times?
E.g. user A requests an asset from Jan 1st - Feb 1st, can another user request asset A from Feb 2nd (before it is returned)?

If this is not possible yet, would this be a reasonable feature request? If so, I'd add the ability to see "available" (unrequested) dates of an asset (e.g. a calendar feed).
