URL changing it IP address once page loads

Hello, new Snipe IT user here (also new to github). I am running snipe on windows server using php, iis, and Maria DB. Everything is working great as far as Snipe IT functionality. The question I have is related to a url and dns record. I have created an A record on our system for snipeit.example.com in the forward lookup zone for example.com. On IIS in the bindings I have two records, one with snipeit.example.com for the hostname, and the other has a blank hostname. I am able to browse to snipeit.example.com from a computer on our network but as soon as I do it changes to the IP address of my server in the URL field. I tried deleting the blank host name record from the site bindings but then it won't pull up at all. Any help or directions to look in would be appreciated.
