On a server, I would go with Ubuntu, 100%. Use version 24.04 (LTS) to be specific. Mint is a fine OS, and great if you want to use Linux on your desktop, but as you know, it's based on Ubuntu, and I don't know that it offers anything to the server user. I understand that you can run it in headless mode, but why? Mint's whole deal is that it's a better Desktop experience. It is an active project and they do seem to keep up on things, but Ubuntu is one of the big players, so lots more support behind it. If you have 1 computer that you want to use as a workstation and run Snipe-IT, there's a stronger case for Mint. Otherwise, i wouldn't bother. Bonus: Ubuntu offers ARM versions, and arm-based servers are generally cheaper than intel/amd64. |
