Using the "easy" upgrade path, uploading a backup file to the new server and restoring has work flawlessly. |

As long as you can run the Snipe-IT backup on your old server, everything should work fine. |

My Snipe-IT installation is a bit outdated—currently running version v6.0.10, build 8610. According to the official site, the latest release is v8.1.3, build 18054.
The problem is that my server OS is also dated. So, if I’m going to upgrade the application, I figured I might as well upgrade the server too. I’ve decided to do a fresh install using Rocky Linux version 9.5, and I now have a brand-new Snipe-IT server up and running.
I already know better than to ask if there’s an "easy" upgrade path, but here’s my real question: Can I restore a backup from version 6 into version 8 and move forward from there? If not, what are my options for migrating the data and upgrading both the app and server?
