Simplified Scoring Guide

Overview

The analyzer now uses a simple transparent scoring method where each feature receives an individual mark (0-100), and the final category score is the average of all feature marks.

1. PERFORMANCE SCORING

4 Features → Average Score = Final Performance Score

Feature Scoring Criteria Mark
Latency Response time 0-100
Compression Gzip/Brotli headers 0/50/100
Caching Cache-Control header 0/50/100
Content Size Page size efficiency 0/50/100

Latency Marks:

  • ≤ 200ms → 100 (Excellent)
  • ≤ 500ms → 80 (Good)
  • ≤ 1000ms → 60 (Fair)
  • ≤ 2000ms → 40 (Poor)

  • 2000ms → 0 (Very Poor)

Compression Marks:

  • No compression → 0
  • Gzip → 50
  • Brotli → 100

Caching Marks:

  • No cache headers → 0
  • Basic max-age → 50
  • Public/immutable → 100

Content Size Marks:

  • 1 MB → 0

  • 300KB - 1MB → 50
  • < 300KB → 100

Example: Latency=80, Compression=50, Caching=100, Size=50 → (80+50+100+50)/4 = 70/100

2. SECURITY SCORING

5 Features → Average Score = Final Security Score

Feature Present Mark
HTTPS Yes = 100, No = 0
HSTS Header Yes = 100, No = 0
CSP Header Yes = 100, No = 0
X-Content-Type-Options Yes = 100, No = 0
X-Frame-Options Yes = 100, No = 0

Example: All 5 headers present → (100+100+100+100+100)/5 = 100/100

Example: Only HTTPS + CSP → (100+0+100+0+0)/5 = 40/100

3. SEO SCORING

5 Features → Average Score = Final SEO Score

Feature Scoring Criteria Mark
Page Title 0 (missing), 50 (present), 100 (20-60 chars) 0/50/100
Meta Description 0 (missing), 50 (present), 100 (120-160 chars) 0/50/100
Heading Structure 0 (no H1), 50 (H1 only), 100 (H1+H2+) 0/50/100
Mobile Friendly No viewport = 0, Yes = 100 0/100
Image Alt Text Percentage with alt text (0-100%) 0-100

Page Title Marks:

  • Missing → 0
  • Present but not 20-60 chars → 50
  • 20-60 characters → 100

Meta Description Marks:

  • Missing → 0
  • Present but not 120-160 chars → 50
  • 120-160 characters → 100

Heading Structure Marks:

  • No H1 tag → 0
  • Only H1 tag → 50
  • H1 + H2 (or more) → 100

Mobile Friendly Marks:

  • No viewport meta tag → 0
  • Viewport meta tag present → 100

Image Alt Text Marks:

  • 0-100 based on percentage of images with alt text
  • 50% of images have alt text → 50 marks
  • 100% of images have alt text → 100 marks

Example:

  • Page Title: 100 (optimal 25 chars)
  • Meta Description: 100 (optimal 145 chars)
  • Heading Structure: 100 (H1+H2+H3)
  • Mobile Friendly: 100 (viewport present)
  • Image Alt Text: 75 (75% of images have alt)
  • Final = (100+100+100+100+75)/5 = 95/100

Overall Score Calculation

Overall Score = (Performance + Security + SEO) / 3

This represents the average across all three categories on a 0-100 scale.
