Bug: Favorites not loading and cannot be added

While using DevMatchups, I noticed issues with the favorites feature:

• A Failed to load favorites popup appears even when I am not on the "Favorites" tab.
• Clicking the star/favorite button on events does not save the item to favorites.

Expected Behavior:

• The Failed to load favorites popup should only appear if there’s an actual problem loading the Favorites tab.
• Clicking the star/favorite button should save the item to my favorites list and persist across reloads.

I’d be happy to investigate and work on a fix. Please assign this issue to me.
