API endpoint to edit metadata

I wanted to explore the possibility of a simple API endpoint to retrieve and/ or update few metadata fields such as caption, title, tags and GPS location.

Somthing where providing a path+filename can retrieve metadata and also gives the ability to edit/ add.

This will immensely help with syncing such metadata with photos in external libraries, as there are no good standards on storing such information and each provider kind of does in their own way.
