Append on <alt>-.?

Hi,

(Just starting out here...)

I can select from cursor to character N by typing "fN". Now I want to continue my selection (say to the next N). I can type "v" and then "fN" again and that works as expected. I was also expecting that typing "v" and then "-." would also continue my selection, but it does not. It replaces the selection.

Is that expected?
