much glitch in GNU screen

Summary

right is inside screen and left is out
expected behavior: look the same in both

Reproduction Steps

I tried this:
connected to a screen session with screen -xR
ran helix on a cpp file (hx )

I expected this to happen:
colors not freak out
Instead, this happened:
colors freak out
