nixos global clipboard not working in helix

What does :get clipboard-provider say? And are you using X or Wayland? For copy/paste to/from clipboard you will need to have a clipboard provider installed. For Wayland for example this is wl-clipboard.

I'm not a developer of helix, but FYI, there is some related documentation here.

termcode means that helix is using OSC 52 escape sequence to access clipboard. Does your terminal emulator support it?
You can try other options like x-sel, x-clip or tmux, which is possible to work on X.
