How to replace text efficiently

I like how helix doesn't yank on replace_with_yanked sometimes. But sometimes I want to yank on replace. I end up doing this sequence of commands when I need to do this which is cumbersome:

"C-r" = ["save_selection", "paste_before", "jump_backward", "delete_selection"]

Can someone point me to a better way? This must be a common occurrence that others have run into.

I used the plugin system with a small patch to do this without polluting the jump list mattwparas#41
