:pipe closes to early

Dear all,
I want to use :pipe togehter with smartcat. Smartcat generates with ki some stuff, but it takes time - up to a minute. In Console everything works as expected, however: Selecting the phrase I want ot pass to sc and give a :pipe sc ... waits maybe for a second and closes without any further info (also not in :log-open).
Does anyone have a hint for me, where to prolong this "timeout" ?

PS: As a workaround one can type the complete command behind the pipe (not inside the code) - than it works as expected.
