What do style options markup.*.hover/completion do?

What do the style theme options

markup.normal.hover
markup.normal.completion
markup.heading.hover
markup.heading.completion
markup.raw.inline.hover
markup.raw.inline.completion

do for theming?
completion menu: no, lsp-hover: no.

And after doing some git forensics (git blame), it seems like these options possibly are no longer used, can anyone confirm if that's the case?

Off the top of my head I don't think these have ever been used, they must've been invented out of the blue in one theme and copied from there
