any advices for improvement in my line selections & navigations

Update:

• k3 for move_line_up 3 can be used for navigation
  Ref: movements
• vk3 for "visual box" or extended select_mode upto move_line_up 3
  Ref: minor-modes "select_mode"

But this reveals one more small problem with my use of x:

• vj selects as many lines it recieves as argument
• but since x first selects till end of current line, therefore, it has to be supplied with one more number of lines in argument

Also, so, do g and k only differs in the sense that

• g supports only absolute line numbers (though with weird syntax? g3g or 3gg?), and
• k supports only relative line numbers in up direction
• right???

So, umh,

1. am i doing/getting things correct here, or is here any scope of improvement?
2. is - reserved for something else? if not, why is it ignored?
   5. any arguments for/against using negated arguments vs. net effective new command?

How to go to lines higher up (visually) i.e. which are lower in number??

• my first instinct says x-3 or g-3 , but as soon as i press - the command gets cancelled.
• second instinct, maybe some command already exists for compensating for the minus, i.e. equivalent to x-.
• now, x stands for extend_line_below - but i couldn't find any extend_line_above command
• there are no relevant commands for prev_line either

surely there must be some way?

• yes, many have felt this need of extend_line_up - so glad :)
• It also mentions "Open command palette" via space ? - supppper awesommme
