Select mode broken after remapping hjkl

I remapped hjkl keys to hnei because I switched to colemak dh and now when I'm in select mode it doesn't continue to highlight characters when I move the cursor. This also applies to searches for some reason, meaning when I search and press the key for search_next in select mode it doesn't keep the previous find selected. No idea if this is a bug or I messed something up in my config. Here is my config:

Ignore the backslashes all over the place in the config.. it's not like that in my actual config that was just a product of copy paste

Take a look at the default keymap. Helxies select mode is (with some historical exceptions) not special and just a different keymap. Each command has a select_... variant which extends the selection instead of replacing it.

Where can I find the default key map?

Searching for select_ in the space ? menu doesn't bring up anything
