I'd like to propose an additional configuration option to turn off all git features/functions with a single-line Boolean option.
This would be helpful for those of us who want to debug without git cluttering up logs, and for those who simply don't have git installed in their working environment.
If everyone is agreeable that this is a feature worth adding, I'll add an issue.
