@hickeng A few questions related to understanding how to enter and use fractional shares
1) I am trying to follow the Fractional share section, but not understanding what I am supposed to put in the Google sheet. I don't really understand the instructions to be honest. Can you provide some screen shots or more details?
For example, it says the following:
add the fractional quantity back into the "AVGO qty from eTrade" cell for the lot (if you've chosen to populate those numbers). This is done so there's not this single special case value in a cell that's divergent from the others but not visually distinct, and also avoids additional formula complexity.
What exactly do I enter in the sheet for "add the fractional quantity back into the "AVGO qty from eTrade" cell for the lot"?
For example, I have 0.655 as "AVGO qty from eTrade" based on the input for etrade-per-lot-avgo-quantities. Am I supposed to check the "Use for franction" box? Why doesn't the sheet automatically know that its a fraction if the cell has a fractional number? If I am supposed to add this number to another cell doesn't the sheet do that in some sense?
2) In Turbo Tax I see for an entry for:
0.09sh of BROADCOM INC
Date acquired: 06/01/2020
Date sold: 11/24/2023
Proceeds $76.91
Cost Basis: -
Based on the date acquired I know this is an RSU, but where in the sheet does it tell me what to put as the cost basis in Turbo Tax for this small fraction...?
3) On the ESPP/RSU sheets of the Google Sheet should be entering Column o titled "Proceeds (1d)" with the values found in the 1099-B from eTrade?!? I didn't see this in the usage.md or other READMEs. But as I was reading the section Entry into Turbotax it got me second guessing things.
