Research ways to improve performance issue in the new Superset version

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
We want to upgrade our version of Superset so we can use the new GIS mapping features and chart types. This repo contains a fork of the latest version and it is currently hosted in our test env. @sannleen has run a few tests and was able to load up data in this instance but the instance seems to not be performant (long query times, dashboards/charts not loading).

We would like to examine how to improve the performance of the instance and identify the ideal amount of hosting resources to run it optimally.
