Optimize for iPadOS 26.

Feature request: Hi! iPadOS introduced a menu bar concept and I find it handy and less cluttery too use that rather than the menu bar we have now.

Hi, that's my plan, but it will happen after the move to Python 3.13... (soon) and also after I purchase a device compatible with iPadOS 26.

This is amazing! Looks like the new Carnets is running Python 3.13 and works great with iPadOS 26.1.

Honestly, I have no idea what kind of magic the devs pulled off to convince Apple this is not doing remote code execution. But I'm glad they are able to pull this off!! REALLY AMAZING WORK!

Any plans to add pytorch and torchvision to the app? :))))) or somehow make pip install torch torchvision to work?

• we're following the letter of the AppStore developer agreement: all the code that is added after the AppStore review (code that you write and code that you download with pip) is human-readable ASCII code, that is interpreted, and that you can review. Here's the relevant paragraph from the Developer agreement:

B. Executable Code
Except as set forth in the next paragraph, an Application may not download or install executable code. Interpreted code may be downloaded to an Application but only so long as such code: (a) does not change the primary purpose of the Application by providing features or functionality that are inconsistent with the intended and advertised purpose of the Application (b) does not bypass signing, sandbox, or other security features of the OS; and (c) for Applications distributed on the App Store, does not create a store or storefront for other Applications.

An Application that is a programming environment intended for use in learning how to program may download and run executable code so long as the following requirements are met: (i) no more than 80 percent of the Application’s viewing area or screen may be taken over with executable code, except as otherwise permitted in the Documentation, (ii) the Application must present a reasonably conspicuous indicator to the user within the Application to indicate that the user is in a programming environment, (iii) the Application must not create a store or storefront for other code or applications, and (iv) the source code provided by the Application must be completely viewable and editable by the user (e.g., no pre-compiled libraries or frameworks may be included with the code downloaded).

(and there is no "remote code execution": everything is running locally, on your iPad)

PyTorch is the most requested package, and it is on my list of things to do. It's a big one, though, so I need a long time ahead of me in order to attempt to cross-compile it. Someone else has pointed out that a default PyTorch install is around 6 GB, so even if I manage to cross-compile it it may be too much for practical distribution.
