Persistent Left Navigation Setup

Is there a way we can make the Left Navigation setup persistent across browser restarts, cache clearing, and private tabs. It used to switch my theme back to white until dark became a default. Similarly, when I removed Energy and Media Browser from the Left Navigation tool bar, both of which I don't use, they just keep reappearing because I use Private Tabs in Firefox (doesn't everyone?) and none of the cookies, or whatever it uses, are persistent. Maybe I'm missing something, but that appears to be what's happening here. I would love to reclaim that real estate on my Tool Bar.
