Dashboard Card Hold Action Improvement

I have noticed that every time I set a "hold-action" for a card, the action isn't performed until I lift my finger or release the mouse. The only card I have discovered that actually calls the action at a predetermined holding time, without waiting to lift your finger or release the mouse, is the custom card Big Slider Card. This makes it difficult to know when the hold time interval has been reached and so I often end up releasing the button too early or too late. Is this something that could potentially be changed for the default action? If so, does that seem like a worthwhile endeavor?
