mdi() function to convert mdi:icon in emoji

It seems there's a function in some systems called mdi() which converts a literal describing a mdi icon in its correspondent emoji. So, if I write:

{{mdi("mdi:home")}} in a template it would show the "home" emoji in dashboard. Or

{% set friendly_name = 'Zone Friendly Name' %}
{% set zone_icon = states.zone | selectattr('attributes.friendly_name', 'eq', friendly_name) | map(attribute='icon') | list | first %}
{{mdi(zone_icon)}}

would display the emoji of a zone.

Is it possible to include this function as a feature in Home Assistant?
