Area dashboard does not show all relevant entities, like helpers

My house mostly runs on automations based off of helpers. For example the lights in a given room are mainly controlled by a helper in each room. When I assign that helper to the correct area it does not show up in the area on the new areas dashboard - what is shown there seems to be a very limited list. The option to include helpers and maybe even some things like temperature sensors would greatly enhance my usage of this (not having to maintain my own area dashboards would be amazing, which is what I think this feature is moving me towards!).
