External/Internal (SSID-based) connection: do not force location services settings

To enable Internal/External server address features, one have to input internal SSID*, fine.
Then why do we absolutely need to enable location-services to benefit from such feature: it seems irrelevant as iphone can assess on which wifi network it is (known SSID or none), without use of locations services.
Thanks for consideration on relaxing this constraint.

• about SSID list: would be nice if we could pick them from a list of detected SSID, instead of writing them down (sometimes complex).

Because to compare your current connected SSID to the SSID that you defined as home network, Apple requires the location access permission. Without this permission developers can't access SSID info.

ok, thanks. Seems really weird practice on API from Apple then: could be understood for scanning various available SSISs (which can be a location by triangulation) but for just of having name of connected one...

It's annoying from a developer perspective I agree, but in practice it makes sense, imagine an app like Instagram tracking every SSID I go by everyday, and then cross checking with other users, this could create a timiline of places you have been + exposing your home. (Ignoring the fact that most users already give location permission to instagram anyways, but at least not background permission)
