Single description topic

Hi,
Going through the v4 and development (v5) specification I noticed a change in how the property meta data is handled.
What was the idea behind the single description topic in v5? (#235)
Sparkplug B has a similar mechanism where the templates are published on the 'Node Birth' topic. Why is this preferred over separate topics?

performance. Discovering 100+ devices was a pita. Hence it was switched to a single topic.
from my own testing; way faster. Also more reliable as your less likely to hit the limits of the mqtt broker (max messages in flight etc).
