High Efficiency RAW (HE*)

As you know, the RAW Nikon HE* files (from a Z8/Z9), can't be read by all software.

Can these High Efficiency RAW files can be converted to 'standard' Lossless Compression RAW?

I fully appreciate that both are NEF RAW files already and perhaps one type of RAW (HE*) can't usually be converted to another variant of RAW (because it is RAW already) ..... but hopefully your software might be able achieve this 😀

Nikon's HE raws are compressed using intoPIX's TicoRAW, which is another proprietary compression algorithm. To my knowledge there is no publicly-available information on how the compression is implemented (outside of intoPIX's patents).

What you could do is use Adobe's DNG Converter and convert the HE files into an Adobe DNG, which offers various compression options. I could add logic to convert a DNG into a lossless compressed NEF but I don't currently have any plans to work on this.
