Hello,

Until 2 days ago, my setup worked smooth. I could read all the data of the battery, MPPT, WR via the web interface and could see updated every 5 to 10 seconds.

Yesterday, the communication became more diffuclt. The only 50 % of the data for the WR are transmitted, sometime with 1 minute interval. The data of the MPTT are sometime transmitted correctly, or only 1 out of 10 values is received.

IR Power meter HICHI (data transmitted per MQQT)

Yesterday I rebooted the DTU (power cable out), and received for some time good data again, but it stayed stable only for one hour.

I could observe via Home Assistant that the DTU disconnect periodically:

Even if I cannot get the data, it looks like the limit of the WR is adjusted to the value of the power meter, since my grid consumtion is ofter close to 0...

My assumption is that this is a communication issue between the DTU and my rooter, but I dont kown how to test it or to make it works as good as 2 days again...

Does anyone has a clue ? Should I check for other values ?

I can confirm that the DTU on Battery is now back on track. I saw immediately optimal results after the change of the frequency and the selection of higher transmission power. Here are my new setup:

As said, I changed the wifi channel, but 10 minutes after, and the ESP32 was already in a good shape.

Hello @Kukusse,

The data of the MPTT are sometime transmitted correctly, or only 1 out of 10 values is received.

I assume you use the OpenDTU Fusion CAN/Iso Shield to connect the Victron MPTT. How long is the cable?
You can also try to disable the "verbose logging" for the solar charger and check if you still see the breaks in the logging.

Thanks for the replay. I use indeed the OpenDTU Fusion CAN/Iso Shield to connect the victron MPPT. The cables are a simple jumper cables, so approx. 20 cm long.

I checked disable the "verblose logging", but still have the breaks of 10s in the logging.

The ouput of the inverter looks like:

Up to day before yesterday, I had a continuous curve, not a dotted line.

Since the problem occurred suddenly, at the time I wasn't changing any configuration nor playing with other ESP32, I suspected an interference from the outside. I will change the transmission power and frequency of the CMT2300A.

In the same time, I changed the channel of my wifi WLAN. Now it looks good, but I will wait at least a couple of days and report the results here.

Your ESP32 seems to restart due to an error. To find out more, you need to connect a USB cable and log the serial output. There will be debug information that we need to figure this out. Otherwise we are just guessing.

One guess is that you are using the web console and that you are also a victim of #1561. Please check that issue out and tell us if your ESP32 runs out of memory while you are using the web console.

I had a lot of restarts, even without looking at console. When I was not at home, I had 71 restarts in 9 hours (no regular patern).
Since I solved my communication problems, I saw nevertheless some restarts, but less often (22 restarts in 15 hrs), and with no impacts.

Concerning the restart due to the console: I rechecked and indeed when I can check the console, the system freezes.

I cannot easily log the serial console now, I will do it in a few day. But At the exact moment of the freeze, all the diagnostics data are unreachable for one second.

I need some time to give you more data. Thanks for your responses!

Interesting. I am going to implement a workaround for the console-related reboots in the next release for sure. I did not do it already since it is only a workaround and I cannot test it, nor the impact, as I cannot reproduce the issue. I expect the workaround to cause messages being dropped that otherwise might have had a chance to be delivered to the web console...

Also, I just implemented a fix for #1708. Before you invest your time in trying to figure out the cause of your reboots, maybe you want to install the firmware build from the development branch which removes temperature readings. Maybe with that new firmware you don't have reboots and you don't have a hassle logging the reboots.

If the reboots persist, we can only help you if you provide the reboot logs using the serial connection.
