How to search by value in an advanced select

I am using an advanced select element, and would like to be able to search by either the displayed text of each option as well as it's value.

For example, if the options are a list of names and their values are ID's:

Value	Label
1	Bob
2	James
3	Mary

When searching "3", I would like it to find "Mary".

Currently, I seem to only be able to locate results based on the textual representation (label) and not the actual value.

Is there any way of doing this?
