trigger script after switch?

very cool software, tried USB/IP prior, rkvm works nicely thus far.

so, I'd like to trigger script execution after switching, namely I'd like to use ddcutil to switch the monitor over (got two devices attached to same monitor), any pointers on how to accomplish it?

This could be useful also to implement visual indicators to let one know that the switch happened. Sometimes I press the shortcut combination accidentally and struggle to understand why my keyboard stopped working. 😄

I am currently using a workaround developed by ChatGPT:

• Create an executable file at /usr/local/bin/rkvm-switch-watcher with the content below:

  #!/usr/bin/env bash
  
  journalctl -n0 -fu rkvm-server -o cat | stdbuf -o0 -e0 grep "Switched client" | while read -r line; do
      notify-send "rkvm" "Switched!"
  done

• Create a file at ~/.config/systemd/user/rkvm-switch-watcher.service with the content below:

  [Unit]
  Description=Watch rkvm-server journal and show notifications
  
  [Service]
  ExecStart=/usr/local/bin/rkvm-switch-watcher
  Restart=on-failure
  StandardOutput=null
  StandardError=journal
  
  [Install]
  WantedBy=default.target

• Enable & start it (as your regular user, not root):

  systemctl --user daemon-reload
  systemctl --user enable --now rkvm-switch-watcher.service
