VDR client - why waiting for block confirmations when using POA consensus #128

I noticed that the vdr client is always waiting for block confirmations. At the time I'm writing, it is set to wait for one block. However, when using POA consensus (QBFT and IBFT for example), there is no need wait for confirmations since blocks create are final.
Should there be a type of configuration to make it more flexible? Say I'm using a Besu private network, using QBFT and 4secs of block creation time, each schema creation for example will take me 8 secs instead of 4 that are really necessary (if confirmations blocks is set to 1).
