Hi fellow travelers and rail enthusiasts!
I wanted to start a thread about one of the most anticipated infrastructure projects in India – the Mumbai to Ahmedabad High-Speed Bullet Train, also known as the MAHSR (Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail) [https://www.orientrailjourneys.com/blog/mumbai-to-ahmedabad-bullet-train] corridor.
This project is India’s first bullet train line, using Japanese Shinkansen technology, and promises to cut travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad from 7-8 hours to around 2 hours! 🕒💨
Some key highlights:
Distance: ~508 km
Top Speed: 320 km/h
Stations: 12 (including Thane, Surat, Vadodara, Sabarmati, etc.)
Expected completion: [Insert latest update here, e.g., 2026]
Operator: National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL)
What makes it exciting?
Modern, state-of-the-art rail tech in India 🚆
Will boost tourism, business travel, and regional connectivity
Green transportation with lower carbon footprint
A huge leap in India's railway modernization
But there are concerns too...
Project delays and cost escalations
Land acquisition and environmental concerns
Will it be affordable for the average traveler?
👥 Let’s discuss!
