The goal here is to restyle the simplevideo player interface to look nice:

• Restyle the home page to look nicer
• Restyle the video player to look nicer

I don't want to change the functionality so the work done here should primarily focus on css. As a matter of fact, there shouldn't be js changes except for things like adding css classes when needed

The most frustrating aspect of "modern" video players—whether in a browser or as native desktop applications—is the user interface that overlays crucial content in the video. I genuinely dislike these overlays, as they obscure important elements. For example, when I'm watching an Emacs tutorial, the minibuffer and modeline, which are essential for navigation, are positioned at the bottom of the screen. Unfortunately, most players cover this area with control overlays whenever I move my mouse or pause the video to absorb the material at my own pace.

Even the default browser's built-in video player is disappointing. Recently, I installed the script from GreasyFork to replace it. While this solution resolves some issues, it still has its own overlays, such as a pause icon.

I believe that the best UI should keep out of the way of the user, allowing for an uninterrupted viewing experience. It would significantly enhance this experience if there were options to position the controls below the video. In fact, having no overlay at all would be the ideal solution! Usually, I use mpv with a modified OSD for this purpose, but it's not always available when I switch to other machines or mobile devices.
