Description
Our organization is currently using the IKVM NuGet package within a commercial product. During a recent audit, our security and legal team reviewed the licensing terms and noted that IKVM is distributed under the GPL 2.0 license. While certain portions of the code are covered under the “Classpath Exception,” the exception does not apply to the entire package.
Based on this review, our legal team has advised that we obtain explicit permission from the copyright holders before consuming IKVM in our commercial product. Please note:
- We are only consuming the package as-is.
- We are not modifying or redistributing the source code.
- Our intent is to remain fully compliant with licensing requirements.
We kindly request your permission to use IKVM in our commercial product under these conditions. Your confirmation will help us ensure compliance and proceed with confidence toward our release deadlines.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to your guidance.
The code in IKVM that this project produces is zlib licensed. Most of this code comes before I took over the project. There is no copyright assignment, but the CLA bot asks for agreement to relicense under terms compatible with zlib.
We import code from OpenJDK. We also import code from Freetype. OpenJDK is a large project.
We also distribute binaries linked against various native bits from various other native libraries for various platforms. For instance, we build our Linux binaries against a Linux chroot.
There's also some old Apple code floating around the source for libjnf.
