License clarification: is Amazon the proper copyright holder?

The LICENSE.md files for the assets, motion-controller and viewer packages all contain the MIT license, but attribute the copyright to Amazon.

This struck me as somewhat odd, hence this issue asking for clarification if these licenses are correct?

For context, I plan on making some alternative hand models derived from the assets in assets/profiles/generic-hand. As per the license I will include the full license text including the copyright notice. But in case the copyright actually belongs to someone else, I want to be sure of the exact copyright notice and license terms, before potentially propagating this mistake.

The majority of this repo, including most of the generic- assets (except for generic-hand, which came from Oculus) were developer by @NellWaliczek and her team while at Amazon, which is where those licenses would have come from. So yes, that is accurate. I'll grant that it does look a bit unusual given that most of the content the IW groups produce are licensed under the Immersive Web Working Group, but given that it IS an MIT license either way there should be no issues using it, regardless of the name on the file.

That said, most of the controller assets outside of the generic ones are contributed directly by their respective companies, and it would be nice to start including licenses (still MIT) for those assets individually crediting the appropriate contributor.

ah, we place this (and most of other tools' or libraries' repositories) in the Immersive Web CG, which is operated under W3C Community Contributor License Agreement (CLA). So, even conditions are similar, Software and Document license used for IWWG is not the default.
