Filtering out album items based on a selection of assets (be it from search results, from directory selection, etc).

My use case / Context

I have a large album of all my family photos and I want to use a subset of it for ImmichKiosk, so I want to filter out:

• all photos of documents (can be found pretty successfully via semantic search)
• photos imported from phones' "Viber" directories
• photos imported from phones' "Screenshot" directories
• etc

I can select them, but I only see the option to "Add to album", not remove.
Nor is it possible to do from inside the Album view itself.

This seems like a fairly specific need, I think it might be best solved with a one-off custom script against the API rather than adding a feature for it to Immich.

Not really - I don't see why album management should be asymmetric.
You can add album items by a selection anywhere, you should also be able to remove by selection.
Not asking for any complicated operation here, just removal.

I just explained my particular use case for context - the feature I actually propose seems very basic and useful to have.

I agree with @VelocityRa here - being able to create an album where I can say, "include this type of photo, but ignore this kind" seems really useful. Example - "all photos from this date range (a trip, let's say), but not receipts" for sharing with other people on the trip.

True. My request is less open-ended, more of a manual process on the user side, and presumably simpler to implement.

I was thinking through a similar use case. I have a ton of photos sometimes of a specific event (i.e. wedding, baby)

it'd be nice to be able to filter them out similar how you filter them.

A possible idea could be to have a include filter and also an exclude filter. Below, would be the include filter. A workaround could be tags for others that have a similar thought.
