I have searched the existing feature requests, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate request.
The feature
It would be great to have a feature in Immich that allows automatic tagging of old photos that are missing GPS location data. Many users, like myself, have a large number of older images that lack embedded location metadata. Manually setting locations one-by-one is very time-consuming.
The idea is to utilize intelligent suggestions — perhaps by using AI models (like ChatGPT or other services) that can make educated guesses about the location based on image content, timestamps, albums, or surrounding photos that do contain location data.
For example, if a set of photos were taken in the same timeframe or album as others with GPS data, the system could offer a batch tagging suggestion or allow me to apply a location to all matching images.
This would massively improve organization for users importing large legacy photo collections, and reduce the manual effort of geotagging.
