The feature

I am very happy with Immich and the manage location utility is one of the nicest additions for me since using Immich in terms of usability. So thanks to whoever put there effort into this! I make use often of the map feature in Immich but my camera does not have abuilt in GPX. That's why, like many, I have to first process my pictures on a PC with specific programms.

In my opinion, is would be very usefull to have, in addition to seleting the location on the map, a feature where you can upload a GPX file or other location file with coordinate and time info. That can then apply the coordinates to the pictures. Each picture gets assigned the coordinates that has the least time difference, or can put them somewhere in between with a calculation. Some offline programs have this feature, but it requires the user to undertake quite some extra steps and to have acces to a laptop or PC.

Good idea but I think this would be best in a new utility. You start with the GPX file that will define your date range. The UI then shows all assets in that range and then you have the option to enable geocoding for all or selected assets. Previewing each assets intended location would be a nice to have but not required
