I’d like to share some feedback on the current memory banner feature, which displays assets like “1 year ago” or “3 years ago” at the top of the page.
The selection often includes near-duplicates, even when many unique, high-quality photos are available.
Low-quality snapshots (e.g., out-of-focus or uninteresting phone photos) are frequently chosen over stronger, more meaningful images.
The algorithm could be improved by:
Penalizing low-quality or duplicate assets.
Prioritizing high-quality, diverse, and meaningful photos.
Is this related to the “Smart Memories” roadmap item, which aims to "automatically create memories based on events, locations, and people"? If so, could these improvements be considered as part of that feature’s design goals?
