How to handle rate limiter (429) respond?

I have a rate limiter in RouteServiceProvider:

RateLimiter::for('strict', function (Request $request) {
  return Limit::perMinute(3)->response(function (Request $request, array $headers) {
    return response('Custom response...', 429, $headers); // No Inertia here since I'm using this for many views
  });
});

which I use on some of my routes:

Route::middleware(['guest', "throttle:strict"])->group(function () {
  Route::post('referral', [ReferralController::class, 'store'])->name('referral');
})

It works but it doesn't go through Inertia (no surprise).

How would I go about this? I simply want to show a throttle message under my form.
